He will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne. Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power. Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril. Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics. And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity. -goodreads.com
I literally finished this book in 2 sittings. Currently, I’m laying in bed not knowing how to go on w life QON was utterly great! As soon as I finished I text Ashley over at The Tattered-Page (she's my go to vent buddy, as you can see). Having already finished the book herself, we wallowed in our pain and shared reactions. We both agree that QON had a bittersweet ending.

It picks up right after the events in book 2. Jude is living in the mortal world and dreams of the day when she can have her revenge on Cardan. Enter Taryn... let me quickly say that I HATE Taryn (w a passion!). She comes begging for Jude's help and I couldn't help but scream into my book, "DON'T DO IT, JUDE! She's a lying, manipulative b*!) but of course, Jude agrees to help and yet starts the plot and sends the reader on a whirlwind of adventures. Like seriously, I didn't think so much could happen in ONE book.

Knowing how the books ends I can be honest and say that QON was worth the wait. I finished book 2 back in May and was legit going crazy! Plus, all of Black's twitter teasers were not helping! But I can sanely say that I enjoyed this book more than I should have. I've you've invested time in books 1 & 2, there's no way in hell you can skip this one. Although the ending is bittersweet, it's a perfect way to say goodbye to this series.

Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR #1)

Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR #1)

My Rating:

Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price... Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever. -goodreads.com

Ok, don't hate me but I hated Sarah's other series, (Throne of Glass, I think), and I was afraid to start A Court of Thorns and Roses for that same reason. BOY AM I KICKING MY OWN ASS FOR NOT HAVING PICKED IT UP EARLIER! ❤️ I freaking loved it! I devoured it and loved every second of it. The story, the writing, the character development, I loved it all.

So I'm totally team Tamlin right now, but I did the HUGE mistake of looking on goodreads. Why is everyone going crazy about Rhysand? He was a complete dick! People commented, "If it weren't for Rhy, Feyre wouldn't have made it out of the mountain alive!"... The f? 😂Did we read the same book? Rhysand was the reason she was there in the first place! He went crying to Amarantha that Tamlin was with Clare. Even after Tamlin begged him not to say anything. I hate him! 😒 My pal Ashley says I need to start book 2 asap as all will become clear... haha!

Either way, a great first book to begin the series. Lucky for me, book two is on my Nook.

Just trying to vent my feelings

Hola,

Holly Black, you are going to be the DEATH of me! Before Cruel Prince, I honest to God thought to myself, "You know what? The YA genre is just not suited for me anymore"... HA.

BOY WAS I WRONG.
I love this series.
Look at these fan art pieces, AMAZING!
I promise you here and now that I will make it to Holly's QON signings and I will post all about it on another random post.

Haven't had time to start the series? Do so NOW, you won't regret it.

Review: Opal (Lux #3)

No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever. Together we’re stronger… and they know it. -goodreads.com

Before ya'll hate me, my 3 heart rating is more of a 3.5 rating. Even though Opal had some HOTTT Daemon scenes, Katy made some really stupid choices... especially when it came to Blake. It just didn't seem realistic, but then again, I get it, I'm reading an ALIEN novel, nothing realistic about it. I was just sooo mad at Katy. She choose to not trust Daemon AGAIN by not telling him about Blake. She made stupid ass decisions throughout the whole book that just foreshadowed at the fact that she was going to f* up their mount weather mission.

If I could some up this book in one word, it would be letdown. I was SO excited to start Opal after I finished Onyx (which I loved by the way, read my review HERE), and now that I've finished it, I can't tell you one memorable part from it.... Honestly!... Ok, maybe one part (spoiler, highlight to read) Daemon and Katy finally have sex, but that's it! Opal was very uneventful up until the last 10 pages.

There were so many things that were just wrong in this book... Kat trusted Blake, again, he screwed her over, again! Daemon went from being this total bad ass to total sweetheart which, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed very much.... but just because a guy's sweet doesn't mean he has to be less bad ass. Also, what was the point to introducing us to the whole Opal concept? Kat had it on her hand during mount weather and didn't do shit! It was supposed to enhance her abilities and when she was confronted by Simon, she choked. 😒

Hate to say it but Opal was a "filler" book. I have book 4 but I'm a little hesitant to start it.

Can't-Wait Wednesday (1)

Remember when I was all upset about Waiting on Wednesday disappearing? Well, I found the blog that's in charge of continuing it, but under a different name. Starting today, I will now participate in "Can't-Wait Wednesdays"

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This beautiful Wednesday afternoon I'm waiting on WHEN THE STARS LEAD TO YOU by Ronni Davis:

Eighteen-year-old Devon longs for two things.  The stars. And the boy she fell in love with last summer.  When Ashton breaks Devon’s heart at the end of the most romantic and magical summer ever, she thinks her heart will never heal again. But over the course of the following year, Devon finds herself slowly putting the broken pieces back together.  Now it’s senior year, and she’s determined to enjoy every moment of it as she prepares for a future studying the galaxies. That is, until Ashton shows up on the first day of school. Can she forgive him and open her heart again? Or are they doomed to repeat history? -goodreads.com

I have no clue why but the synopsis provided reminds me a lot of the movie Grease... you know, without the heartbreak, haha. Only bad thing about this book is that it's publication date isn't until NOVEMBER 😒😩

What about you? What book are you looking forward too? Leave links! I love discovering new blogs and making friends.

My Review:

BEING CONNECTED TO DAEMON BLACK SUCKS…
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
SOMETHING WORSE THAN ARUM HAS COME TO TOWN
The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.
BUT THEN, EVERYTHING CHANGES
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
NO ONE IS WHO THEY SEEM. AND NOT EVERYONE WILL SURVIVE THE LIES. -goodreads.com

Loved being back in Kat and Daemon's world. It's been a cool min. since I last read Obsidian (read my review for book one HERE).

Kat grew on me this book, not that I didn't like her in book 1, but she was way more realistic in Onyx. She’s not surrounded by the typical halo of perfection (as I like to call it), which some authors bathe their main characters with. Daemon on the other hand was even more perfect... He is equal parts good and bad, danger and comfort. It surprised me that we got so much Daemon and Katy time bc in book 1 we literally get one kiss like 200 pages in. I hated it, it was torture!

The only thing I constantly hated about this book was Kat's stupid attitude towards Daemons' feelings towards her. "He can't possible like me, it's just out connection" 😒 really? You have to be f*ing dense to believe that after all the effort the guy puts into visiting/spending time w you! OMG, the thanksgiving scene when he brings her dinner. I almost cried, that scene had me hard core wishing men/aliens like Daemon actually existed.

I hate the DOD and they hardly make an appearance, they're only mentioned. Like, I get they're the bad guys but why do the Lux always have to check in with them? Why not just go super saiyan on their asses? Slight spoiler (highlight to read): AND THE DOCTOR! AHHHHH! I hope he dies a slow and painful death. I'm a little confused on the whole willing mutation? So it won't stick since Dae wasn't willing? I'm guessing I'll get more answers in book 3, Opal.

Waiting on Wednesday no more?

Hi folks,

I'm in need of help. "Waiting On Wednesday" WAS a weekly event, hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. This meme used to spotlight upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I used to participate all the time when I was more "active" on the blog. I don't know what happened, but when I visited her blog just now it looks outdated and like it hasn't been visited in years.

I'm legit sad. Anyone know of other bookish moms that spotlight YA releases? Let me know please, much appreciated.

Review: The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air #2)

Title: The Wiked King (The Folk of the Air #2)
Author: Holly Black
Publisher: Little, Brown Books

My Review:

You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.  The first lesson is to make yourself strong.  After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.  When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world. -goodreads.com

I hate Taryn. She can choke on a big one... She legit is the definition of a traitor to her own blood. Her name should be a synonym for disloyalty. I read somewhere that she's just doing what she "thinks" is right? The f...? 😒

Ok, now that I got that off my chest... Onto the review, Wicked King picks up right after Cruel Prince (you can read my weird emotional review HERE). Cardan is now King of the realm but is in a way being manipulated by Jude. Ok, not in a way but as in 💯percent being manipulated by Jude. He can't do anything major without the approval of her. Idk why but it bothered me that he's always drunk. Cardan is a great character but when it comes time to BE GREAT, he backs off. Jude is great, I love her. I hate that she trusted the wrong people.

I absolutely adore the world that Black has created. I honestly can't get enough of it. The ending killed me... Literally. I'm not the one typing this, it's my ghost form the great beyond. She's just sticking around bc she has unfinished business with this series and apparently won't be able to move on until November of this year (which is a lot better than January 2020, which was the original release date). Any who, have you read this series? Give me your theories, talk to me, put me out of my miseryyyy...

My Rating:

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences. As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself. -goodreads.com

Holy mother... I should have waited and NOT listened to Ashley over @ The Tattered Page (sorry girl, I'm totally going to throw you under the bus haha). You need to start this series ASAP, she said... You'll finish it quickly, she said... Yeah, but what she forgot to mention was that this book will legit break your heart into a million pieces, throw them on the floor and stomp on them too! Seriously... If you're a fan of YA/Twilight/Mortal Instruments- YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!

*Slight SPOILERS* The romance aspect is weird af. Like, I ship Jude and Cardan 100% but at the same time I hate him (and at the end end of this book, I kinda hated her). I've never been in this situation, I'm a hopeless romantic and I usually either love or hate, no in-betweens. But after finishing TCP my heart is everywhere. Ssssoooo much betrayal, from literally everyone.... There were several times while reading that I had to do a re-read to make sure I read what I thought I read (don't know if that makes sense). I hope I didn't give too much away and can someone please call/test/tweet me!? I need to talk about my feelings hahaha... I am a very blessed girl, I have book two waiting as I type. The million dollar question now is; do I read it now, or wait closer to Book 3's release which isn't until freaking January 2020!? Decisions, decisions.... Oh what the heck, who am I kidding... I'm starting this bad boy now.
